It is grey black in colour, dry lightweight ingredient. Does not have its own taste but an indescribable spicy fragrance it adds to any spice blend. It is used while making mutton-chicken dishes. Also one of the ingredients used in spice blends made for everyday use and also in speciality spice blends.
